Economic Justice Pricing
Because the support you receive during birth, postpartum and the transitions of womanhood should not be determined by your bank account.
Why This Page Exists
I have been thinking about access for a long time. The women who need holistic, continuous, deeply personalised support the most are often the ones who can afford it the least. Single mothers. Women navigating fertility on a tight budget. Expats without family nearby and without the financial cushion to absorb a significant investment.
There is more to it — there is the awareness that financial resources should not be the only indicator that allows people to access care. I consider the services I offer in the form of Birth and Postpartum Support and Complementary Medicine as primary care: everyone should be able to have access to what I can provide, if they want to.
I cannot count the times I have either been asked for a discount I could not afford to offer and I said yes to anyway or I have seen clients choosing a different provider or walk away from the care, knowing that their choice was based on financial considerations.
These circumstances, honestly do not feel right — not for me not for them. I would like to change this and this is where I landed.
I am not able to solve systemic inequality.
But I can make a conscious choice about how I price my work — and that choice is this.
All of my services are offered using the Green Bottle Method — an economic justice pricing model that allows those with more financial resources to pay the true cost of the work, sustaining myself, while making genuine access possible for those with fewer.
This page explains how the Green Bottle Method works, what each tier means, and how to choose with self-awareness, respect for complexity and accountability.
What is the Green Bottle Method?
The Green Bottle Method was created by community healing practitioner Alexis J. Cunningfolk as a tool for economic justice — a way of structuring sliding scale pricing that frames the conversation not from shame or charity, but from access.
It is built on the understanding that financial resources should not be the only determining factor in whether someone can access care. The tool guides decision-making by helping each person understand where they sit on the scale — and choose accordingly.
For a sliding scale to work, it relies on the principles of self-awareness, respect for complexity and personal accountability. There is no income verification. There is only trust — that you to know yourself about your circumstances, and honest about what is genuinely within your reach.
I have chosen this model because it reflects what I believe: that the work I do matters most when it reaches the women who most need it. And I trust the women I work with to share the same understanding.
This model is not perfect — and I am not asking you to be. Some people feels some kind of pressure in wanting to "do it right", that generates some anxiety around the model and the possibility to be judged.
Some of the business that use this model, rely on fundings or on "pay forward prices" to make it sustainable — this is not my case. I still think that each one should pay a service based on it's true cost. If you wish to pay forward, there are many other ways, charity is one of them, next to creating more accessibility in your own way, if this resonates.
I would like to give this model at least one year. I would like to create a space where we can all free ourselves up from the conditionings around money — whichever form they take.

Where do you sit?
Read each description carefully. Choose the tier that genuinely reflects your financial reality — not the one you wish were true, that feels more comfortable at first glance and not the one you fear being judged for.
There are no right answers. There is only your own clear assessment. No question asked. The description and bullet points as tools for self assessment are part of Alex J. Cunningfolk original model.
Full Rate — The Bottle Is Full
This is the true cost of the service — what it actually takes to deliver the work sustainably, fairly and with full presence. If you have access to financial security, own property or have personal savings, you would not traditionally qualify for sliding scale services. If you are able to pay for "wants" and spend little time worried about securing necessities in your life, you have economic privilege and power in our community.
This price is for you if:
-
Your basic needs — housing, food, healthcare, transport — are consistently met without significant stress
-
You have some savings, or the ability to build them
-
You can afford occasional wants — a meal out, new clothes, a holiday — without it creating financial hardship
-
A significant investment requires planning but does not threaten your stability
-
You have financial security that others around you do not
If this description fits — this tier is yours. By paying the true cost of the work, you make the tier below possible. That is an act of genuine solidarity.
Middle Rate — The Bottle Is Half Full
This tier is for women who sit between financial security and genuine hardship — managing, but not comfortably. If you are struggling to conquer debt or build savings or move away from paycheck to paycheck living but have access to steady income and are not spending most of your time thinking about meeting basic needs such as food, shelter, medical care, child care, etc., you belong here. If you, however, can ask others for financial support, such as family members, partners, or friends, using services like a Gift Card please consider using those personal resources before you use the resources of the sliding scale and limit opportunities for others.
This tier is for you if:
-
Your basic needs are met but there is little left over
-
You are working toward paying off debt or rebuilding savings
-
You have a steady income but live closer to month-to-month than you would like
-
A significant investment requires real sacrifice — not just planning
-
You occasionally need support with unexpected costs
If this is you — this tier was designed for you. It is not a discount. It is an honest acknowledgment of where you are.
Community Rate — The Bottle Is Nearly Empty
This tier is for women in genuine financial hardship — for whom the full rate or middle rate would mean going without something essential. If you struggle to maintain access to needs such as health care, housing, food, child care, and are living paycheck to paycheck or are in significant debt, you belong probably belong here and you deserve a community that honors your price as equal an economic offering as the person who can pay the highest tier. Even when the lower tier is still prohibitive, I will work with folks to offer extended payment plans and other solutions. This tier is for you if:
-
You struggle at times to meet basic needs — housing, food, healthcare, transport
-
You are unemployed, underemployed or in significant debt
-
You have no savings and no financial cushion
-
You qualify for income support or government assistance
-
A significant investment is simply not possible at any tier above this one
A limited number of community rate spaces are available for each service each quarter. If you believe this tier is right for you — it is. You deserve this support as much as anyone who pays the full rate. Your contribution is equal.
A note on Trust
This model works because people know themselves — and because they extend that self-knowledge into the choices they make here. I trust this to being true, and I trust people — so there will be no questions from my side.
The tiers are described as clearly as possible so that self-selection is straightforward rather than ambiguous. Read them without rushing. Most women know, when they sit with it, which description most closely reflects their reality.
If you choose a lower tier when a higher one clearly fits your circumstances — you are not just making a financial choice. You are occupying a space that belongs to someone else. Someone for whom that tier represents genuine relief rather than convenience.
There is no judgment here — only an invitation to look clearly at where you are and choose accordingly. The model asks nothing more than that.
And if you are genuinely unsure which tier fits — that is what the alignment call is for. We can have that conversation directly, without pressure, and work it out together.

All services are available with a payment plan where the investment is split across the program or service duration.
Standard split is 50% at booking and 50% at the midpoint, for the birth doula packages: 50% at signing and 50% by week 37 of pregnancy. Payment plan up to 5 instalments available.
If payment plan is still not manageable — please reach out before you walk away and consider resources such as The Gift Card. If you are currently lacking of support system I would still love a conversation as I rather find a way than have you navigate birth, postpartum or your health without support.
