BIRTH DOULA IN AMSTERDAM
SUPPORT FOR PREGNANCY, LABOR AND POSTPARTUM

What Is a Doula?

The word doula means “one who serves.”
To me, a doula is in service to Life itself—supporting its unfolding with reverence, presence, and trust. This is sacred work, as ancient as the Earth.

Birth is not only about bringing a child into the world—it is a profound rite of passage for the mother. My role is to hold space with deep respect, allowing you to stay connected to your inner knowing. You already hold the power—my support simply helps you remain present, grounded, and attuned as you cross the threshold into motherhood.

My Birth Doula Support Includes, regardless the level of service you choose

  • In-person sessions, emails, and phone support—consistent care that adapts to your needs.

  • 1:1 preparation sessions—to clarify your birth vision, explore options, and release fears.

  • Childbirth education—personalized tools and practices that empower you to feel ready.

  • Community connection—access to the Mamamoon network of mothers and birth keepers.

  • Emotional intelligence & presence—drawing from over a decade of experience walking women through powerful transitions.

Benefits of Doula Support

Studies show that women supported by a doula are:

  • 25% less likely to have a C-section

  • 31% less likely to require synthetic oxytocin

  • 9% less likely to use pain medication

  • 34% more likely to rate their birth experience positively

Because a doula offers:

  • Physical Support: comfort measures, labor positions, breathwork

  • Emotional Support: calm presence, encouragement, safe space

  • Partner Support: helping your partner feel confident and connected

  • Informational Support: non-medical guidance to make informed choices

  • Advocacy: holding your preferences with clarity and respect

Why Choose an Ayurvedic Doula?

Imagine being held not only with emotional and physical support, but also with the wisdom of Ayurveda—an ancient tradition of care that honors body, mind, and spirit. If you want, this is a possibility. As an Ayurvedic Fertility, Birth & Postpartum Doula, I bring together modern doula care with natural remedies, grounding routines, nutritional guidance, bodywork, breathwork, and ritual practices. This way, you are nurtured in every layer of your being—and your baby is welcomed into an atmosphere of calm, balance, and love. This holistic approach strengthens vitality, supports emotional well-being, and creates the space for a more empowered, restorative, and sacred birth experience.

Hiring Me as Your Doula Step by step process

I take on a limited number of births per month so that I can serve with full devotion. If you feel called:

  1. Schedule a free introduction call or an in person meeting via email share your due date, days of the week and time you are available and if you prefer a video call or an in person meeting. I always wish to be able to meet all the women that reach out to me, however, knowing your due date right away helps me in directing you to another doula and shorten your waiting time if I am not able to take on another client. This is a mutual investment of time and it is important for you to collect all the information you need: I am willing to invest time so that you walk away with a clear sense of completion. TIPS to prepare: consider this as a space to connect with each othere and see if this path feels right (know that your partner, if you are not a single mom, is welcome too!). Come with any sort of question about my education, my experiences and anything else of a more personal nature that can help you in having a sense of who I am. Also be prepared to share a little more about yourself. The first meeting is a "chemistry meeting" but also a "business meeting"exploring my Doula Packages before the meeting is a good way to direct some of your questions and help you clarify what may feel more appealing for you.

  2. Decision making: We will talk openly about the time you may need to come up to a decision, in my experience it varies from an instant "yes", to "I'll let it sink for some time". Hiring a doula is a big decision, so you want to take your time without feeling pressured.

  3. Hiring Process: The moment you reach back to me — I will confirm that I am still available and if not I would be happy to refer you to another doula. When available we will discuss about your preferred package and the payment structure (see below) — I will send you the contract within 24 hours. The contract is due signing within 3 business days and is followed by a retainer fee that secures me as your Doula.

What happens once you hire me?

  1. Handouts, Videos and Prenatal Intake Form: I will share with you the video classes, part of the handouts included in your package and your Prenatal Intake Form.

  2. Scheduling Prenatal Visits: I will schedule the sessions based on our availabilities — during the first visit we will look into a possible calendar that suits you and your partner, aiming to our last session before week 36. While I serve you as a doula, we will connect via what's app and as the On Call time starts we will talk more regularly, to make sure you feel held and supported and I am up to date on any changes and conversations with your midwives.

What happens after birth?

I will be with you for a few hours during the immediate postpartum, regardless the birth setting and I will be available for the first 2 weeks after childbirth for any questions you may have.

I will come to visit you and your family while the Kraamzorg is present to have an opportunity to connect again, share about your birth experience and process what feels still open. Depending on the package you have chosen this meeting will include Postpartum Care ( 3hr Home Visit).

Each package is designed to meet you where you are — with care, wisdom, and presence, however, if you feel that something is missing, I would be happy to have a conversation to understand how to better meet your needs.

I serve the Dutch and Expat Community in and around Amsterdam in English and Italian.

Let’s begin with a first contact!

Single Mom Birth Doula Support

Mother and Newborn

Giving birth as single parent comes with a whole different set of challenges. While I encourage any expectant woman to reach out to their family members or closest friends to explore their eligibility as birth partner, I also recognise that especially for expats the logistics may be difficult. Having a calming presence during the latent stages of birth becomes vital when partner is not present, you can opt for adding a second doula to any of the offered packages, against a reduced fee of €50,-/hour.

€50/hour,-

Transfer of Care - Change of Heart Birth Doula Support

Newborn Held Gently

This offering is crafted having in mind the special needs of women that for medical reasons are transferred to hospital care from week 37 onwards or that feel a sudden need for extra support last minute (from week 37 until week 41). Reasons for a transfer can be an induction or a change in the health of mom or baby. When this happens, women often experience a range of difficult emotions, mostly caused by a sudden change of their expected birthing experience. Navigating the shock and disappointment, the fear and the anxiety on their own and having to temporarily say good bye to their midwives places women in a space of limbo while navigating a different medical system. I will strive to make space for you and when my workload doesn't allow I will refer you to another doula.

What’s Included - 1 Prenatal Visit

  • Prenatal Intake + Processing and Redefine your Birth Plan: As your medical conditions change, so does your birth plan. I will support you in redefining your options and connect with your baby and partner around childbirth.

  • Visit with the medical team: I will be with you to advocate and support you in asking the right questions as you navigate the medical system.

Labor & Birth Support

  • Continuous physical, emotional, and spiritual support during your labor and birth

  • On-call from the moment you hire me until labor, 24/7

  • Immediate postpartum presence

  • Use of TENS machine and rebozo (available for you until childbirth)

  • Backup doula coverage, ensuring you are always supported

  • Unlimited WhatsApp/email contact throughout our time together
