Ayurvedic Postpartum Care in Amsterdam
Home Visits, Postpartum Planning & Closing Ritual
Why Ongoing Postpartum Support Matters
The first weeks after birth are the most important for your long-term recovery — and the most overlooked. Many families in Amsterdam choose Ayurvedic postpartum care as a holistic support alongside kraamzorg, focusing on deeper physical and emotional recovery during and after their kraamzorg has left.
While the world focuses on your baby, your body is going through one of the most profound physiological shifts of your life. Your womb is healing. Your hormones are in a space that resembles menopause. Your identity is changing. And most of the time, you are doing this without anyone truly tending to you.
The birth of your child is not the end of the journey — it is the threshold into motherhood. Your body, mind, and spirit need gentle tending as you cross into this new chapter.
Postpartum Healing is regarded as a Sacred Window in many traditional communities — my care is offered with the intention to bring back the healing space that was once reserved to each and every new mother.
This care is for you if:
You gave birth recently and feel like your recovery has been left to chance. You are surrounded by people who love you, but no one really knows how to support your body through this transition. You are pregnant and want to make sure this time is reserved and planned with you and for you.
You are drawn to a more holistic, nourishing approach — one rooted in ancient wisdom rather than a six-week checkup. You want to be held, witnessed, and genuinely cared for in your own home, without having to explain yourself or justify what you need.
Whether your birth was gentle or difficult, at home or in hospital, vaginal or by C-section — you deserve this level of care.
Postpartum Planning
How you prepare for your own recovery matters as much as how you prepare for birth. Long before your baby arrives, I help you build the foundation for a truly nourishing postpartum — from understanding Ayurvedic meal planning and healing herbs, to creating a support team around you that actually knows what you need.
Because a well-held mother raises a well-held child.
Home Visits
I come to you. You don't have to get dressed, leave your baby, or be anywhere but your own bed.
One visit can bring relief and nourishment, but true healing unfolds over time. Just as seasons shift gradually, your postpartum recovery deserves a rhythm of care that meets you at each stage:
Visit 1: Immediate grounding and support — soothing the body, tending the womb, calming the nervous system.
Visit 2: Deeper healing — restoring strength, balancing digestion, softening tensions, holding your story.
Visit 3: Integration — preparing for longer-term well-being, offering rituals and nourishment to carry you forward.
Visit 4 & 5 (for full journey): Continued renewal and anchoring support across the sacred 40 days, so you never feel alone in your transition.
As your Ayurvedic Doula, I weave together Ayurvedic wisdom, herbal healing, and grounded presence to create a cocoon of restoration for you. My visits are not only treatments—they are sacred pauses where you feel seen, nurtured, and supported in your new role.
Each 3-hour postpartum visit is a sanctuary for healing and may include:
-
Birth Story Integration – A safe and gentle space to share your birth experience, to be witnessed and honored.
-
Yoni Steaming or Sitz Bath – Herbal remedies to soothe and heal the perineum, reducing inflammation and promoting regeneration. Sitz Bath are recommended during the first days, while Yoni Steaming can start after day 10.
-
Marma Therapy Massage – Gentle stimulation of vital energy points to support womb healing, digestion, bladder health, nervous system balance, and emotional grounding.
-
Castor Oil Packs – A deeply nourishing treatment to support tissue repair, reduce stagnation, and calm the nervous system.
-
Bengkung Belly Binding – To support your core and hold you gently together
-
Womb Moxa – Gentle heat therapy to support flow and prevent or reduce stagnation
-
Shiro Pichu - Traditional treatment to restore balance in the nervous system, aid deep sleep and hormonal balance.
All treatments are offered in the comfort of your own bed, honoring ease and gentleness.
